Favor with God

Favor with God

Finding favor in God’s eyes isn’t about earning His approval. He cannot become obligated to anyone through their works. The Greek word translated as “favor” is charis. It can also be translated as “grace.” Strong’s Concordance says it means “disposed to, inclined, favorable towards, leaning towards to share benefit.”

God is always leaning toward people to make Himself known. This is why James and Peter both reference Proverbs 3:34:

God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5

God opposes pride because it causes a person to pull back just as God wants to come closer.

God is leaning toward you in Christ, wanting a deeper relationship. Take advantage of His unearned favor. Paul admonished,

For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

2 Corinthians 6:2

Don’t miss a single day of His love.

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
