Today’s Thoughts – 6 December 2020

Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

2 Timothy 1:13-14

It is imperative that we hold to the Word of God, the Biblical teaching of our Pastor and church, and that we keep and guard these words in our age. So many false doctrines are in existence in our world today.

We must hold true to the doctrine that was taught to us which was taught to our predecessors and so on. Their pattern of living, teaching, and preaching should become our pattern of living, teaching, and preaching. This will then become someone else’s pattern that we can affect.

If we fail to keep to the old paths, our ministries and lives will begin to weaken and not be beacons of light in this dark world. Instead, they will fade into the world and be categorized as simply a community outreach program or a carnal Christian life.

Let it not be! For we preach Christ crucified! We teach that there is only one way to Heaven – through Jesus Christ, God’s Son. We have the most wonderful truth that has ever been told. We cannot compromise on such a message. And our lives must be separated from this world and unto Christ.

We must remember, however, that as we are loyal to the Scriptures, we should not be nasty about such things. We must hold fast in faith and love (Ephesians 4:15), not being argumentative or harsh in conversation. Such an attitude will not win a soul to Christ but rather push them away from a decision to follow Him. It is important that we take a balanced approach to our defense of the Word.
