Today’s Thoughts – 30 October 2020
By T. S. Candee on October 30, 2020 in First Timothy Thoughts
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
It is true that we can not control what others think of us. We do not have the ability to demand that someone not despise our youth. Yet, we do have the ability to impact the way people perceive us. Granted, we should not weigh much on what others think of us.
When God places a person in a position of leadership in the church, that should be enough for the members of the church. It is not always that way, so it is paramount that we exemplify the aspects listed in this verse. For through it, we can be an example of spiritual maturity.
We must be an example of how one talks, how one walks, how one loves, how one is excited for the things of God, how one holds faith in what God says, and how one keeps a pure mind, heart, and body. All of which must be drawn from the Word of God and devotion to Christ.
When we allow the Spirit to fill us, we will not walk in the flesh. And when the Spirit fills us, we can be an example to others of a mature Christian life.
