Send Roots Deep

When you accepted Jesus as Lord, His Spirit entered your heart and brought you eternal life. This verse then encourages you to continue to live as God’s child, loving Him and obeying Him. Build your life on Him, sink your roots deep down into His truth, the scriptures, and be nourished by Him.
The idea is for the roots of your faith to become completely intertwined with Jesus, even as a tree’s roots reach deep into the rich soil and spread completely throughout it. Today’s verse says to be “stablished in the faith,” and both sinking your roots deep and receiving constant nourishment strengthen you.
First, if your roots go deep and wide in Christ and His teachings, you’ll be solidly rooted and unshakable.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Second, you’ll receive constant nourishment.
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
